DescriptionThe author of the work was a German humanist, mathematician, astronomer, geographer and cartographer. He invented several mathematical and astronomical instruments. He was court astronomer to Emperor Charles V, to whom he dedicated this book. The astronomy work contains movable coloured wood cuts which demonstrate the orbits and movements of the constellations. The University Library’s copy was originally owned by a 16th century book collector, physician Johann Bierdümpfel.
