DescriptionDeveloped and used by Hans Gross (1847-1915), this Tatort-Koffer, or investigation case, is an important object in the development of criminology. It dates from around 1900 and contains the necessary instruments which, in Gross’ opinion, were required when working at a crime scene. With the Tatort-Koffer, Gross wanted to place a greater scientific basis on investigations and is regarded as one of the founders of criminal sciences. He also founded the Hans Gross Kriminalmuseum at University of Graz, opened in 1913.
